DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:20 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made remarkable progress in the northern Hama countryside over the last 30 days, recapturing several villages and hilltops they originally lost to the jihadist rebels in September.
The massive Syrian Army counter-offensive began in late October, when several jihadist rebel factions attacked one another; this paved the way for a large-scale assault.
As illustrated above, the Syrian Armed Forces managed to capture 36 sites in a territorial range of 80km2 after launching their massive counter-offensive against the jihadist rebels.
Leading this offensive in the northern Hama countryside was the Syrian Army’s “Tiger Forces” and several units from the 11th Tank Division that were already deployed to this front.
While this offensive is not over, a large chunk of the Tiger Forces have since been redeployed to the Aleppo Governorate, where they are now participating in the defense of the provincial capital.
