DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:45 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s elite 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division is preparing to depart from the key town of Khan Al-Sheih to the Al-Quneitra border in order to participate in the next government offensive, a military source told Al-Masdar News on Monday night.
Following their successful military operations in Al-Maliha (East Ghouta town), Darayya (West Ghouta town), and Khan Al-Sheih, the 42nd Brigade is embarking on their most important battle thus far along the strategic Quneitra-Damascus Highway.
According to a military source stationed in Damascus, the 42nd Brigade is preparing to launch a new offensive to secure the Quneitra-Damascus Highway, so that they can build a buffer-zone around the imperative city of Madinat Al-Ba’ath in the Golan Heights.
The military source added that once the highway is secured, the 42nd Brigade will link up with the soldiers of the 90th Brigade and Liwaa Suqour Al-Quneitra (NDF contingent) in the Golan Heights region of Al-Quneitra.
If they are successful, the 42nd Brigade and their allies will make a major push to reach Hadar before launching a decisive offensive to clear the remaining jihadist pockets inside the Al-Quneitra Governorate.
