BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:10 P.M.) – Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a heavy assault on the key town of Kabani in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.
Backed by heavy artillery and missile strikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division attempted to penetrate Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s defenses at the southern perimeter of Kabani.
However, following a fierce battle with Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party, the Syrian Army was unable to breach the militant defenses, resulting in their subsequent retreat towards Kabani’s southern hills.
According to a report from this front, the Syrian military suffered a number of casualties while attempting to advance into Kabani. The report said many of the casualties came as a result of intense machine gun fire from the enemy forces.
The Syria Army has repeatedly tried to infiltrate the jihadist lines at Kabani, but each of their attacks has been repulsed by the militant forces thus far.
