BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made several advances in the Idlib Governorate recently, capturing many areas that were once firmly under the control of the jihadist rebels.
Led by their elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army scored their biggest advance of the year when their units took full control of the strategic Abu Dhuhour Military Airport.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Army was able to take control of several other areas around the airport, including the key town of Abu Dhuhour, which is located at the northwestern part of this installation.
The Syrian Army now finds themselves within 40 km of the besieged Shiite towns of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya.
According to a military source in Hama, the Syrian Arab Army plans to lift the siege on these towns and retake the provincial capital of the Idlib Governorate, which has been under militant control since April 2015.
