Damascus, Syria (4:45 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard continued their military operations in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Sunday, targeting the strategic hilltop of Tal Sawwan that is under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam).

The 105th Brigade, backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and National Defense Forces (NDF), unearthed the second Jaysh Al-Islam tunnel that stretches from Tal Sawwan to Tal Kurdi on Sunday, leaving one tunnel left to go before the area is clear.

According to a military source in the East Ghouta, the Syrian Armed Forces unearthed this tunnel after a ground-to-ground missile struck Jaysh Al-Islam’s defenses at the southern perimeter of Tal Sawwan.

Once the third tunnel is unearthed by the Syrian Armed Forces, they will be able to overpower Jaysh Al-Islam at Tal Sawwan and impose fire control over Tal Kurdi.

The Syrian Armed Forces have captured Tal Sawwan twice in the past three weeks; however, Jaysh Al-Islam’s tunnels from Tal Kurdi have played an integral role in their resurgence in the area.
