With ISIS splitting the government held areas of Deir Ezzor in two, the pro-government forces has now begun its counterattack against the terrorist group.

The first stage of the counterattack involves the Syrian and Russian air forces pulverizing ISIS positions before the ground troops storm the weakened positions. Because of this strategy, no gains has been made as the Syrian Army has not begun their offensive.

An inside source with direct contact to Major General Issam Zahreddine has quoted him as saying that the morale of the soldiers is extremely high despite some of the setbacks faced earlier in the day.

Zahredinne then went onto say that the air forces are doing a great job and that the Syrian Army will win this battle against ISIS.

The Syrian Army will be looking to quickly end the siege on the air base or the city will face a humanitarian disaster as most of the food and supplies that reach civilians in Deir Ezzor are delivered to the airbase.

Meanwhile, the Director of Health in Deir Ezzor has said that in the last few days he has seen only 25 killed Syrian Army killed and a further 45 injured show up at Assad Hospital. This contradicts the exaggerated ISIS claims.

Everything must be done to repulse the ISIS fiends. Then bomb the h**l out of Thardah Mountain and retake that. I am sure tat Russia has a plan to save the situation.

Silly question….Why not drop thousands of men and some equipment in Kurd held areas? The distance between Ruwayshad and Deir Ezzor is probably about 30-40 km maybe less, but the kurds are not applying any pressure on that front so ISIS can concentrate on Deir Ezzor with no distractions

1) where is Ruwayshad ? i cant find it
2) there are tensions between american trained kurds and syrian government in northern syria, not sure such a thing would be allowed by YPG
3) 30-40 kilometers vs isis is enormous distance

Not such a bad idea but Syria does not have planes that can drop several battalions or more with equipment I think, Russia would have to do this. Big operation..

It’s the closest point to Der Ezzor on the Kurd side. Ruwayshad is 10 times closer than the Palmyra front. I would estimate the Palmyra front is around 200 km away. I wish I could attach a map pic.

As soon as they’re dropped down they’d be beset on all sides, they wouldn’t get near Deir Ezzor.

Shameful! Humiliating! ruaf/syaf had over 3 months to prepare and carry out series of air strikes on daish positions on Mt. Thurdah and have SAA recover their positions, which they lost upon US airstrikes in September. Daish was able to split up DZ because SAA was purged from Mt. Thurdah, thus loosing all high ground. You gotta wonder what Russia is thinking. Why would they pull out aircraft, when they did not have enough to begin with?! They just got humiliated by daish in Palmyra, and now DZ; and yet, they are pulling aircraft out. They are loosing face and… Read more »

No pull out of aircraft as, as soon the Kuznetsov Su-33 went away, they were replaced by 12 Su-25 which, in some ways are even more interesting for the Syrian operation : Su-25 is, although lighter, the Russian A-10 : they are heavily armoured to cope with low fly risks.

b****y Putin and Assad only care about keeping in power. They aren’t even making a large push on the areas around Damascus which have already been besieged for years, in order to restore and fix the water supply. These fools and their supporters including the Russian trolls and righties who encourage them are going to let ISIS gain more land and power by focusing more on keeping the throne for Assad. They keep blaming USA for the situation, but never do anything to fight and repel ISIS whole-heartedly. Even their offensive around Palmyra has been slow and not many sokdirs… Read more »

Isn’t it Kerry who himself said US let IS do their s**t in order to force Assad suck US dicks? Neither Putin or Assad so b****y as you say : they’re NOT responsible of the destabilisation of the region! al-Qaeda is initially a joint Saudi/US anti-commie project. D’ya know what it means as a word? ‘The base’ for… DATABASE! They f*****g built a database of all loonies they could find as cannon-fodder… The greed ans callousness in on the real responsible side, mainly our common ennemies and foes : KSA and Qatar leaders, but also on Erdogan who by dealing… Read more »
