BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) – For the second time in a week, the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) has carried out a powerful attack on a passenger bus traveling through a rural area previously occupied by the terrorist group.
According to a field source in Hama, the Islamic State conducted an ambush on a passenger bus that was traveling along the Salamiyah-Ithriya Road, which is located in the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
It was initially reported that six people were killed; however, the death toll later rose to nine, with several others badly wounded as a result of the terrorist attack on Sunday.
In response to the Islamic State’s ambush, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a fresh attack on the Islamic State’s hideouts in eastern Hama, as Russian warplanes flew over the area to direct the ground troops.
The Syrian Arab Army also launched a combing operation in an attempt to find the ISIS terrorists that carried out the latest attack on the passenger bus in eastern Hama.
Last week, the Islamic State carried out a roadside bombing attack on a passenger bus carrying several Syrian Arab Army soldiers and civilians.
As a result of this roadside bombing attack, over 20 Syrian Arab Army soldiers and eight civilians were killed along the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor Highway in eastern Homs.
