On Tuesday afternoon in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade (commando brigade) – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), the Syrian Marines, and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – established full control over the imperative hilltop of Tal Ghazaleh after a violent battle with the extremist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

According to a military source in northern Latakia, the Syrian Armed Forces took the opportunity to seize this vital hilltop after most of the rebel units shifted to the Kinsibba front in order to help protect the aforementioned village from being captured by the pro-government forces in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains).

Tal Ghazaleh is located in northern Latakia and it is situated along the border-crossing into Turkey; its capture by the Syrian Armed Forces will now giver the latter upper-hand along this volatile front that is surrounded by hills and forests.

Meanwhile, southeast of Tal Ghazaleh, the Syrian Commandos and their allies are currently storming the rebel defenses around the strategic village of Kinsibba after they captured the two remaining points just south of this rebel stronghold in Jabal Al-Akrad.
