BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful assault in the northern Hama countryside this morning that targeted Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions at the small village of Ma’ardes.
Led by a combination of units in the Syrian Army and Hezbollah, the government forces managed to break-through the jihadist front-lines and enter Ma’ardes after an intense battle that lasted for several hours this morning.
According to a local military source, the Syrian Arab Army broke-through the final of defense for the jihadist rebels and took control Ma’ardes by 11:40 A.M. (Damascus Time).
Ma’ardes was originally captured by the jihadist rebels during a brief counter-offensive in the Northern Hama Plain last week.
With Ma’ardes under their control, the Syrian Arab Army will now shift their attention to the collection of towns located along the strategic Hama-Idlib Highway (M-5 Highway).
