Aleppo, Syria (1:00 P.M.) – One hour after imposing full control over the strategic Bani Za’id District of Aleppo City, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division, backed by the Republican Guard, seized the contested parts of the Ashrafiyah District following the withdrawal of the Fatah Halab militants.
According to local reports from Aleppo City, the Syrian Armed Forces seized the Ashrafiyah District after capturing the Layramoun Roundabout and Bani Za’id Youth Housing Complex.
The predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) played a critical role in this battle by providing artillery fire against the jihadist rebels that were attempting to fortify their positions near the Sheikh Maqsoud District.
With the expulsion of the Fatah Halab from the Ashrafiyah, Al-Layramoun, and Bani Za’id, the predominately Kuridish Sheikh Maqsoud District is no longer flanked by the jihadist rebels.
