BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a big assault in the eastern countryside of Homs, Sunday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions in the Hamimah area, which is located west of the strategic T-2 Pumping Station.

Backed by Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Corps and 18th Tank Division managed to capture several points from the ISIL terrorists during the morning hours on Sunday.

However, the Syrian Army’s assault would take a turn for the worse once Islamic State reinforcements arrived to help drive back the government forces around Hamimah.

According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army lost a dozen soldiers in the counter-attack, while another 28 were wounded and/or captured by the Islamic State terrorists.

In addition to the casualty toll, the Syrian Arab Army also lost a surveillance drone and a tank during the assault on Sunday.

ISIL’s propaganda wing has begun publishing photos showing captured soldiers being beheaded by Islamic State terrorists after the battle.

It has been two weeks since the Syrian Army has reached the Hamimah area in eastern Homs and since that time, they have been unable to hold any ground captured from ISIL here.

That’s why propeller aircraft must be considered for CAS (close air support) : they’re cheaper than both choppers and jets, can carry at least as much payload as a Su-25 if double engined with 2x 2000-2500HP, fly even faster than A-10 if necessary and loiter for a very long time while no jet or chopper can. Just think about the 1948 AJ Savage. Modern engines are much lighter, Kevlar+composites are also lighter than metal. It’d now be easy to make something even more powerful than A-10 for half the price of a Mi-28N, half the hourly cost and moreover, much… Read more »

With the Syrian army having air dominance over the area, such a setback is unacceptable. Why didn’t the Russian and Syrian airforce obliterate the terrorists’ counter offensive? Why haven’t they kept on targetting the terrorists’ reinforcements which were obviousely coming from the terrorists’ ‘safe heaven zones?’ The Syrian Arab Army and Russia should address and correct their mistakes and launch a massive counter offensive with constant air cover. The terrorists should not be given the illusion that they can beat the Syrian government forces.

The Tiger Forces seem to be head and shoulders above all units in SAA, they seldom loose battles and wherever they go, they are simply unstoppable. They bail out the SAA each time

Very bad news 🙁 I hope the head choppers will soon get exterminated and meet their 77 male virgins (a.k.a faggots)

How do you lose in open, flat desert? That’s some level of incompetence right there.
