BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:25 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a lethal series of attacks against the Islamic State (ISIL) forces, Tuesday, scoring several direct hits on the terrorist in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
Led by the 137th Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division and Al-Qassem Group of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by destroying several Islamic State vehicles that were fitted with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns near the Panorama School.
The Syrian Army followed up with another attack in the area shortly after, destroying an Islamic State trench filled with many terrorist combatants.
Not to be outdone, the Syrian Arab Army’s 123rd Brigade of the 3rd Brigade launched a powerful attack along the Euphrates River, targeting the Islamic State’s defenses at the Al-Baghiliyah and Al-Hamidiyah districts of Deir Ezzor.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Islamic State suffered heavy casualties in most of these attacks, while also losing several armored vehicles, especially at the Panorama front.
The source added that in general, Deir Ezzor has seen far less fighting recently because of the ongoing battles in eastern Homs and Al-Raqqa.
