At dawn on Sunday morning, the Syrian Marines – backed by the Desert Hawks, Republican Guard, and National Defense Forces – stormed the outskirts of Kinsibba, which is currently under the control of the jihadist rebels in the northern Latakia countryside.
A field source in the town of Salma told Al-Masdar News on Sunday morning that the Syrian Marines and Desert Hawks attacked Jaysh Al-Fateh’s (Army of Conquest) defenses at Qal’at Al-Shalaf, Qal’at Toubal, Ruweisat Al-Shamis, and Ruweisat Al-Kinissah.
These aforementioned sites are all located near the Turkish border-crossing in the Kurdish Mountains (Jabal Al-Akrad) of northern Latakia.
Currently, all parties are engaged in a fierce battle at the outskirts of Kinsibba; however, no gains have been reported by the Syrian Armed Forces, despite the intensity of the clashes.
Earlier this week, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a similar assault in the northern Latakia countryside, but the offensive was ultimately repelled by the Jaysh Al-Fateh militants.
