BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) shifted their attention from Jobar on Thursday to the jihadist-held suburb of Al-Qaboun, striking Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions at a number of flanks.

Backed by heavy airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division stormed the area around the Sadkop Soap Factory in Al-Qaboun, inflicting heavy damage on the jihadist defenses this morning.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army has not made any significant gains as of yet; however, this assault is meant to weaken the jihadist resolve before they launch the main assault.

Earlier this week, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham stormed the northern sector of Jobar, seizing several points from the Syrian Arab Army, including the strategic Fabric Factory.

Not long after losing these points, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard launched a counter-offensive to recover all the territory they lost; this would prove successful, as Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham withdrew from almost every site they captured.
