BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) recently carried out a counter-offensive against the jihadist rebels in northwestern Hama, seizing the town of Hamamiyat after a fierce battle with the militants.

Hamamiyat was initially captured by the jihadist rebels on Wednesday, but the Syrian Army’s counter-offensive on Thursday would put an end to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s progress in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

Following the capture of Hamamiyat, the Syrian Arab Army was filmed gathering inside the town.

The reason for the gathering is not necessarily known; however, there have been rumors of an imminent Syrian Arab Army attack in the coming days.

The SAA morale seems very high, but Russia needs to replace all SAA tanks with T-90 or upgraded T-72 with Shtora systems. Turkey is supplying the terrorists with frontline NATO weaponry and Russia also needs to redouble its bombing campaign.

Let’s hope these tanks are protected from the air with MI-24s, either Russian or Syrian, so they’re not turned into scrap metal by the copious amount of ATGM missile systems that the opposition forces have. The Russians used their MI-24s heavily against ISIS during the liberation of Palmyra/Deir Ezzor but I have not seen any videos of them being used in Hama or Idlib during the recent offensives.
