BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 P.M.) – Forces of the Syrian Arab Army have killed hundreds of ISIS militants in the battle for Deir Ezzor after two weeks of offensive operations in and around the strategic city.
According to military sources exclusive to Al-Masdar, more than 300 ISIS fighters have been killed since the Syrian Army began its campaign to encircle forces of the terrorist group inside Deir Ezzor one fortnight ago.
The operation saw the Syrian Army deploy large forces on both sides of the Euphrates River.
As of today, the Syrian Arab Army completed its two week-long campaign to besiege Islamic State militants in Deir Ezzor after it captured a number of key towns and points on the eastern shore of the Euphrates.
It is believed that the Syrian Army will waste no time commencing the next phase of its Deir Ezzor offensive which is aimed at completely expelling ISIS terrorists from the city itself.
