BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is not backing away from the key town of Tal Rifa’at, despite the Turkish regime’s threats to capture the area.
According to a source in Aleppo, the Syrian Arab Army recently sent a large convoy of reinforcements to the town of Deir Jamal in order to deter the Turkish military from pushing into Tal Rifa’at.
The military convoy reportedly consisted of a large number of soldiers and several heavily armored vehicles, including tanks and BMP-1s.
Below is video footage of this military convoy heading north towards Tal Rifa’at this week:
Tal Rifa’at is currently under the control of the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG); they captured the town during their brief offensive in 2015.
Since its capture, the Turkish regime has demanded that the YPG immediately abandon the town and the nearby Mennagh Airbase.
