BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale offensive in the northeastern countryside of the Hama Governorate, today, targeting Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s last positions around the Hama-Aleppo axis.
Led by the Republican Guard and Qalamoun Shield, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the key town of Al-Shakousiyah that is located north of the Ithriya-Sheikh Hilal Road and east of the Al-Qaeda stronghold, Al-Rahjan, in northeastern Hama.
Within hours of launching the attack, the Syrian Arab Army finally broke-through Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s defenses and seized Al-Shakousiyah.
According to a military source in Hama, the Syrian Arab Army suffered heavy casualties during the assault on Al-Shakousiyah, as the Al-Qaeda linked rebels rained anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) on the advancing forces.
As a result of Al-Shakousiyah’s capture, the Syrian Arab Army is now at the eastern outskirts of Al-Rahjan, meaning the HTS stronghold is officially flanked.
