On Tuesday morning in the Hama Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces of Al-Sqaylabiyah and Mhardeh – imposed full control over the strategic hilltop of Tal Huwayr after a series of violent firefights with Jund Al-Aqsa (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) near the town of Morek.
According to a battlefield journalist with the National Defense Forces from Mhardeh, the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade and their allies advanced to Tal Huwayr after repelling Jund Al-Aqsa’s massive offensive along the Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway) over the weekend.
Since they repelled the Islamist rebels of Jund Al-Aqsa, the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade and their allies have recaptured all of their lost territory and even advanced their positions around Morek’s southeastern countryside; this has forced the Islamist rebels to reestablish their defensive front in order to prevent the pro-government forces from overrunning their southern flank.
Currently, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are engaged in a fierce firefight with the Islamist rebels of Jund Al-Aqsa near the southeastern perimeter of Morek; this is the same flank that they recaptured the aforementioned from last year.
