The Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard and 4th Mechanized Division continued their strategic advance inside Darayya on Sunday, capturing over 500 meters of territory from the Ajnad Al-Sham militants.
A military source told Al-Masdar News on Sunday night that the Syrian Armed Forces advanced 500 meters east of the ‘Abdel-Nour Mosque in the Alaya District after a violent confrontation with Ajnad Al-Sham.
With their recent advance on Sunday, the Syrian Armed Forces now control half of this key town in the West Ghouta region of rural Damascus.
This advance spells trouble for the Ajnad Al-Sham fighters that are currently encircled inside the town, as they find themselves desperate for additional reinforcements and provisions.
The Syrian Armed Forces have already issued a call to the remaining militants in Darayya to surrender their arms; however, no answer was given .
The situation is not likely going to get better for the Islamists in the coming weeks, so the likelihood of them surrendering Darayya looks pretty good for the Syrian Armed Forces.
