HAMA, SYRIA (10:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) captured the key town of Souran today after a fierce battle with the jihadist rebels of Jund Al-Sham, Faylaq Al-Sham, Jaysh Al-‘Izza, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

Following the Syrian Arab Army’s capture of Souran, the jihadist rebels launched a counter-offensive to reclaim the town before the former could fortify their positions inside the town.

An intense battle would ensue, as the jihadist rebels, led by Jund Al-Sham, stormed the northern axis of Souran amid heavy bombardment from the Russian Air Force.

Finally, around 9:15 P.M. (Damascus Time), the Syrian Arab Army cleared the northern axis of Souran, establishing full control over all points that were briefly contested by the jihadist rebels.

As a result of this failed counter-attack at Souran, the jihadist rebels suffered over 30 casualties and the loss of several armored vehicles, including two BMP tanks.
