BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army resumed their large-scale offensive in northwestern Deir Ezzor, Sunday, liberating a large portion of the territory occupied by the so-called Islamic State (ISIL).
Led by the elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army launched a big attack on the towns of ‘Ayn Abu Jama’a, Hawayj Abu Masaa, Al-Kharetah, Hawysh Al-Shamiya, Mazra’a Hajj Hammoud, and Saleh Al-Hamad.
Within hours of launching this attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to take full control of these towns, along with the oil fields surrounding them in the northwestern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
With this latest advance, the Syrian Arab Army is now on the verge of completely sealing off the Islamic State’s northwestern pocket in Deir Ezzor.
