BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a new offensive on Sunday that targeted the jihadist positions at the key hilltop of Tal Malah in northwestern Hama.
Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army began their offensive last night when their troops stormed Tal Malah from its western axis.
Following a fierce battle, the Syrian Arab Army was able to seize Tal Malah from the jihadists before making their way to the nearby town of Jibeen.
With Jibeen and Tal Malah recaptured, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to reopen the key road linking the two Christian towns of Mhardeh and Sqaylabiyeh.
Tal Malah was first captured by the jihadist rebels in June, when they launched a surprise offensive in northwestern Hama.
Prior to retaking Tal Malah on Sunday evening, the Syrian Arab Army had repeatedly failed on numerous occasions to uproot the militants of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Izza from the hilltop and nearby town of Jibeen.
