BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:10 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIL) suffered more setbacks in the northeastern countryside of Homs, yesterday, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies liberated several hilltops east of the Al-Shumariyah Mountains.
Backed by heavy airstrikes from their Russian allies, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion, alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah, broke-through the Islamic State’s front-lines near Rasm Hamidah, resulting in the capture of all hilltops overlooking this desert area.
Video footage of the Syrian Arab Army’s advance on Thursday was captured by Hezbollah’s official media; it would show the moment the government forces seized the Islamic State’s positions.
As a result of Thursday’s advance, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah now enjoy fire control over the Rasm Hamidah area.
Rasm Hamidah is expected to fall to the Syrian Arab Army and their allies in the coming hours, as they continue to pressure the remaining ISIL forces in the area.
