BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army resumed their field operations against the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in the Al-Safa region of southern Syria this week.
Led by their 3rd Corps and 10th Division, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by storming the Islamic State’s defenses from three different axes in the Al-Safa region.
Not long after launching this big attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to score a big advance at the western axis of the Al-Safa region, resulting in their forces liberating more than 500 meters of rocky terrain.
The Syrian Arab Army also managed to seize several points inside the Al-Habariyah and Qabr Sheikh Hussein areas, including a number of trenches and sniper dens.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army killed over ten Islamic State terrorists, while suffering at least five casualties of their own.
Among the Syrian Army casualties were two mid-level officers that were part of the 3rd Corps.
