Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated the small ISIS-held village of Ma’azah following a blitz offensive on Tuesday which also saw the SAA’s Tiger Forces capture the neighbouring town of Rasm Harmel al-Imam in the morning hours.
A handful of ISIS militants were killed inside Ma’azah while dozens more were neutralized during clashes inside Rasm Harmel al-Imam. The Russian Air Force is also highly active in the region, and are frequently called by Colonel Suheil Al-Hassan to strike the retreating ISIS combattants.
Ma’azah, sometimes called Tayyar Hamadah, is located roughly 1500 meters north of Rasm Harmel al-Imam. These advances are intended not only to encircle the Islamic State stronghold of Deir Hafer, but also look to curtail the Turkish Army’s Euphrates Shield offensive from advancing deeper into the Aleppo governorate.
Now, the Tiger Forces (SAA’s elite assault troops) will attempt to storm other nearby villages and eventually reach the Euphrates River, some 35 kilometers further east.
