DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:20 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a counter-offensive in the northern Hama countryside on Thursday, targeting the small villages and hilltops located west and north of Ma’an.

Led by the 555th Regiment of the 4th Mechanized Division and 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the Syrian Arab Army managed to recapture the small village of Dahr Al-Aliyah and its nearby hilltop after a fierce battle with Jaysh Al-Izza on Thursday.

According to a military source in Hama, the Syrian Arab Army killed well-over 20 jihadist rebels in northern Hama on Thursday, while also destroying a number of armored vehicles that were mounted with anti-aircraft machine guns.

As a result of this northern Hama operation, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to reverse all of the jihadist gains that were made earlier in the week near the key village of Ma’an.
