BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:35 P.M.) – The Islamist rebels launched a second offensive in the Idlib Governorate, Wednesday, striking the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the strategic town of Sinjar.
Led by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Islamist rebels managed to advance at the start of the offensive, capturing the town of Ajjaz after a short battle with the Syrian Arab Army.
However, the Islamist advance would be short-lived, as the Syrian Arab Army was able to beat back the attackers near the town of Sinjar.
According to a military source in Hama, the Syrian Army was able to retake Ajjaz, tonight, while also pushing the Islamist rebels further north in order to secure this front.
The Syrian Arab Army has now foiled all Islamist attacks in the Idlib Governorate after several hours of fighting.
