The Syrian Arab Army’s 555th Regiment of the 4th Mechanized Division, backed by the Desert Hawks, Syrian Marines, and National Defense Forces (NDF), continued their large-scale offensive in the west Raqqa countryside on Sunday, targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) positions along the Sukhanah-Tabaqa Road.

According to an Al-Masdar correspondent that spoke with a member of the Desert Hawks, the Syrian Armed Forces are currently targeting Forsaa, where the Islamic State terrorists are attempting to repel the government’s advance towards the Tabaqa Military Airport.

So far, the Syrian Armed Forces have yet to make any significant advances towards the Tabaqa Military Airport; however, the latter is attempting to build a presence along the Sukhanah-Tabaqa Road, which has long been under the control of the Islamic State terrorists.

The Tabaqa Military Airport has been under the control of the Islamic State terrorists since August 2014, when they launched a large-scale offensive to eliminate any government presence in the Raqqa Governorate.
