DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:30 P.M.) – A Russian military unit deployed earlier in west Homs countryside has been replaced by the Syrian Army amid reports of Hezbollah withdrawal.

According to media sources, troops from the SAA’s 11th Armored Division replaced the Russian military police which was monitoring the area where the Lebanese resistance group has a notable presence.

Hezbollah has reportedly withdrawn from the area as per a deal to prevent further escalation with Israel.

A Syrian military airbase in northeast of Qusayr, believed to be used by Hezbollah group, has come under attack by Israeli fighter jets some two weeks ago.

Experts linked this move to the purported deal concluded recently between Russia and Israel whereby all Iranian-backed groups shall withdraw from the bordering area in Daraa province. In return, the Syrian government shall regain control over the entire Syrian-Jordanian borders, including the US base in Tanf.
