DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:00 P.M.) – With the self-proclaimed Islamic State reinstates itself in the Syrian Desert, the terror organization keeps on launching sporadic attacks against the Syrian forces in bid to expand the territories it controls.

Last night, ISIS blitzed the government-held area located between Maazilah town and T2 pumping station as well as territory surrounding Hamimah in Eastern Badiyah of East Homs countryside.

It was till today afternoon that the Syrian forces managed to fend off the assault.

ISIS controls swathes of land expanding from eastern Hamimah toward Al-Waer dam area; a large pocket that the Syrian command has vowed to retake.

A military source elaborated on the nature and purpose of the attacks.

“The terror group is waging a guerilla warfare with the objective to seize as more weapons, ammunition and vehicles as possible in order to boost its ranks for bigger and more powerful offensives in the future”, he explained.

Meanwhile, more reinforcements poured into the desert area in order to beef up the Army defensives and foil ISIS assaults.
