DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their large-scale offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Monday after the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) rejected the government’s reconciliation offer.

Backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade resumed their assault at the western farms of Al-Reyhan, targeting the Jaysh Al-Islam held territory near the football fields.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the western farms after the Russian Air Force launched several airstrikes last night at the rural area between the towns of Douma and Shifuniyah in the East Ghouta region.

Intense clashes are ongoing along several axes at the moment, as the Syrian Armed Forces continue their massive push to expel the Islamist rebels from the East Ghouta.
