BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) sent a large number of reinforcements to the Deir Ezzor countryside on Sunday, a military source told Al-Masdar News.
According to the source, the Syrian Arab Army sent reinforcements from western Syria to the Deir Ezzor Governorate city of Albukamal, which is located along the Iraqi border.
The source said that the Syrian Arab Army sent these reinforcements to Albukamal after the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) advanced north of the aforementioned border-city.
With the Turkish military threatening to invade the Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) territories in northern Syria, the Syrian Arab Army is worried that the Islamic State will once again sweep through the Euphrates River Valley.
As of now, Daesh is primarily concentrating on the SDF-held territories near the Baghouz Mountain; however, this could change in the coming days, as they approach Albuamal from the Euphrates River.
