DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:40 P.M.) – Huge reinforcements have been sent to different battlegrounds in the Syrian capital and central city of Hama as jihadi rebels launched simultaneous attacks across the country.
According to reports, a huge convoy of the Qalamoun Shield Forces was seen moving from the city of Yabrud to Damascus in order to be deployed along the frontlines of Jobar in the eastern edges of the capital.
Similarly, reinforcements from the Russian-trained 5th Legion as well as Tiger Forces were also sent to shore up the defense lines of the government troops in Hama northern countryside.
Yesterday, a coalition of jihadi groups – led by Hay’at tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhet al-Nusra) – launched a full-scale offensive on several towns to the north of Hama.
The ultraconservative militants managed to take over several sites including Suran and Khattab towns, thus posing a threat to the strategic Hama military airbase.
In Damascus, the government troops has regained momentum following 2-day long battles with the jihadi groups where they were forces to retreat several points.
