DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA (8:50 P.M.) – Soldiers from the Qassem Units  (Special Forces) of the Syrian Arab Army told Al-Masdar moments ago that their forces have recaptured several points in Jabal Thardeh after retreating due U.S. airstrikes on their positions.

The groups leading the counter-attack in Jabal Thardeh are the Qassem Units and 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division.

Intense clashes are still ongoing at Jabal Thardeh, as the Syrian Arab Army attempts to recapture all of the territory they lost over the last 30 minutes.

The death toll from the U.S. airstrikes is still unknown; however, preliminary estimates put the number between 15-20 dead.

I’d like to know how many ISIS have been killed. The best thing for the SAA is to stomp out as many U.S. proxies as possible.
The Syrian government should make official claims to Russia and threaten to take the “cease fire” deal off the table if the U.S. is going to be HELPING ISIS, as it has done here.

The Americans are supposed to coordinate & inform in advance the Russians about their flights. Have they done so? Got the Russians’ ”approval”? Or do they intend to break all rules & bounds?? Become outright outlaws & banditos??

They act as the Air Force of ISIS , the same way Israeli AF acts as the Air Force of Jabhat al Nusra , their pet proxy . Masks have fallen before Halloween

Reports say that 62 Syrian soldiers were killed and 100 injured.
Why isn’t the Syrian air force and army having big attacks like that against the rebels and ISIS itself?
I don’t understand why an army and air force within its own country can’t do much more than it has. Now it may be too late with the U.S. involved.

Because the biggest part of SyAAF is out of use. There could have been ways to largely compensate this by buying 2nd hand civilian small or medium propeller cargo planes and arming them, a little like US created the AC-47 then the AC-119 then the AC-130 and it would be much more cost efficient than jets but no one thought about it : you can get an Antonov An-26 for about 400k$ and an An-12 lists between 600k and 1,4M$ on 2nd hand market. Even converting cropdusters as COIN aircrafts would help a lot, just see what Iomax does with… Read more »

Why in the world are the Russians even listening to the Obama administration? it has been common knowledge for ages that the us is supplying and supporting ISIS. the Russians have the advantage there plus they are there with the permission of the Syrian government. They need to start playing hardball and just shut down Syrian airspace to anyone but the Syrian and Russian air forces. They can do this easily with the s400 systems they have there. Stop falling for Obama dirty tricks to buy time for him to resupply his terrorist buddies and blast those ISIS bastards to h**l.

Rex, it’s the russians who promoted the agreement, not the muricans… A really nice tool to discredit US foreign politics, BTW -which is more than a little deserved even if they didn’t intended to give air support to Daesh-.

Russia is Syria’s ally. They were invited by the Syrian government to help and they have. It’s only the US that treats Syrians as subhuman.
