The Syrian Armed Forces have recently received the new SU-24M2 all-weather attack aircrafts under a deal signed with Russia to shore up the country’s military capabilities in fighting terrorism.

Two of the upgraded attack aircrafts have been already delivered while 8 more will be transferred in addition.

The SU-24M2 is a front-line bombers represents further (after SU-24M) upgrade of the front-line bombers of the SU-24 of Russian Air Force.

The Su-24M2 bombers have been retrofitted with new equipment and systems at the VP Chkalov Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association (NAPO), to enhance their capabilities and improve their combat efficiency.

NAPO has upgraded the Su-24M2 aircraft with improved avionics, including GPS and the Russian equivalent GLONASS, and a head-up display (HUD) and visor, under a three-year contract, as part of a national defence order for 2009.

Maybe the new laser-guided R-73 missiles can help more accurate strikes and thus minimize civilian casualties

You do not know aircraft well, do you?! Su-24M2 is mighty front line bomber, second only to Su-34. Su-25 is a “shturmovik” not a bomber. Su-24M2 has advanced targeting and reconeissance capabilty, all day-all weather capability, powerful radar, terrain matching flight profile, high altitude capability, GPS/GLONASS, and can deliver a wide range of weapons such as Kh25, Kh-59, Kab-1500L/T, Kh-31, and even tactical nuclear bombs, anti-shipping capability. Su-25 has none of the listed capabilities. So, you are wrong; Su24M2 is about the best aircraft for Syria, at present. Consider that SyAF already utlizes this Aircraft, meaning it does not need… Read more »

Dont worry; suicidal-wahhabites will be hunted down; whatever new gay nick name you come up with. In reality; squadrons of new strike aircraft are being delivered to SyAF; just ask the suicidals in Ghouta what they think this last week was like?

What you need is a better understanding and maybe bit more brain. The war in Syria could be long over if there would not this forgein war supporters (like Turkey and Saudis). FSA has to stop figthing the Syrian Government. Extremists like Nusra and ISIS is the real enemy for all humans.

Isn’t the FSA and their criminal gangs too busy building gas-canister h**l bombs to rain down on civilian neighborhoods, or kidnapping children from hospital beds to decapitate, to learn how to use anti-aircraft missiles??? No one should give advanced weapons to animals like al-Zinki, al-Nusra, ISIS, or FSA!!!!!
