A tank from the Syrian Arab Army's 3rd Armored Division traveling down the road leading to Al-Khalidiyah in the Al-Rastan Plains of northern Homs.

On Saturday evening inside the southern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army’s 43rd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions”, and the Palestinian pro-government militia “Liwaa Al-Quds” (Jerusalem Brigade) – imposed full control over the imperative village of Al-Khalidiyah along the Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway).

According to a battlefield correspondent in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies launched a counter-attack against the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham from their positions at the strategic town of Khan Touman, killing several enemy combatants before they fled south from Al-Khalidiyah.

While the Islamists fled south of Al-Khalidiyah, the Syrian Arab Army’s sappers from their engineer corps snuffed out the area for any roadside explosives or mines before they could allow any of the government forces to enter the village on Saturday evening.

Once Al-Khalidiyah was cleared out by the Syrian Arab Army’s sappers, the government forces entered the village after a 48 hour hiatus.

As a result of their loss on Saturday evening, the Islamist rebels are once again cutoff along the Aleppo-Damascus Highway, forcing them to use unsafe seasonal roads to resupply their comrades inside the provincial capital.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
