BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has rebounded in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate after a fierce battle with the jihadist rebels in the Turkmen Mountains.
Prior to the Syrian Army’s counter-offensive, the jihadist rebels managed to capture a hilltop and town in the Turkmen Mountains after beginning their operation last night.
Once these areas were captured, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) began launching heavy strikes over the jihadist positions, forcing most of them to abandon their posts before they could fortify their positions.
Following the air force strikes, the Syrian Arab Army, alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF), swept through the captured areas and eliminated the last militants that were still present at these sites.
This latest militant offensive marks the first time in over a year that they have launched an operation in the Latakia Governorate.
