BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army has reached the western outskirts of Al-Shoulah, today, following a fierce battle with the so-called Islamic State (ISIL) forces in the western countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

Backed by heavy airstrikes from the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian Arab Army pushed their way down the imperative Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor Highway after full clearing the town of Kabawjib that is located west of Al-Shoulah.

The Syrian Arab Army is now engaged in fierce clashes with the Islamic State at the outskirts of Al-Shoulah; they have managed to make some progress, but they still have not entered the town.

Once Al-Shoulah is liberated, the Syrian Arab Army will shift their attention to the strategic Panorama area, which is filled with Islamic State terrorists that are unwilling to yield any of their territory to the government forces.

The Syrian Army will need to take the Panorama area in order to clear the Sukkhnah-Deir Ezzor Highway and secure a stable supply line.
