BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) once again advanced in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate this week, liberating three villages from the Islamic State forces near their stronghold of Deir Hafer.
Led by their Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army liberated the villages of Umm Al-Mara, Tal Umm Al-Mara, and Al-Mab’oujah after a short battle with the Islamic State terrorists on Saturday.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army is now at the outskirts of Deir Hafer, marking the first time since early 2013 that they are within striking distance of this rural east Aleppo town.
In addition to being the Islamic State’s stronghold, Deir Hafer is strategically located along the main highway from Raqqa to Aleppo, making this town even more important to the Syrian Armed Forces.
