After five days of relative ease, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) decided to resume its Darayya offensive this evening as local Islamist commanders had refused to even respond to a recent surrender proposal.
Subsequently, SAA commanders called in airstrikes on the Damascus suburb and gave the green light for government ground troops to push forward on the southwestern flank.
With the offensive ongoing, rebel forces of Ajnad al-Sham and the Darayya Martyrs Brigade are attempting their upmost to hold the current frontline. According to a rebel field hospital in Darayya, 4 rebel fighters have been killed and 10 more injured already this evening.
It is unclear if government troops have advanced yet as the battle is unfolding as we speak.
