BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to launch a counter-offensive against the Al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham terrorist group in the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate, a military source told Al-Masdar News tonight.
According to the military source, the Syrian Army will concentrate on several areas along the Hama-Idlib Highway, including the imperative town of Morek.
Morek was captured by the jihadist rebels of Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (succeeded by HTS) in late 2015 following a powerful attack on the Syrian Army’s positions in northern Hama.
The Syrian Army’s counter-offensive is expected to begin in the coming days, as they await for the Russian Air Force to conclude their airstrikes over the jihadist-controlled Idlib.
