The Syrian Arab Army’s border guards picked off a small convoy of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) terrorists attempting to crossover from the ‘Arsal District of eastern Lebanon into the Qalamoun Mountains of western Syria.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian border guards targeted this Jabhat Al-Nusra convoy with rocket propelled grenades, destroying two of the terrorist group’s armored vehicles near the Faleeta border-crossing from Jaroud ‘Arsal.
The source added that 6 members of Jabhat Al-Nusra were reportedly killed by the rocket strike and another terrorist was found wounded near the scene of the explosion.
The Syrian border guards were able to identify 4 of the 6 terrorists killed on Monday: Khaled Hammoud (Lebanese), ‘Ali Hammoud (Lebanese), Ghazwan ‘Awada (Lebanese), and Hasan Samaha (Syrian).
Sources identified the wounded terrorist as Mohammad Ayyoub of Jarajeer in the Qalamoun Mountains – he was carrying a Syrian passport when he was arrested by the security forces.
Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies have recently attempted to boost their presence in the Qalamoun Mountains by sending an influx of their fighters to this part of western Syria that was seized by the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah during their offensive in June 0f 2015.
