The Syrian Arab Army, alongside Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary) and National Defense Forces (NDF), imposed full control over Shaher Hill inside the Handarat Refugee Camp after an intense battle with the jihadist rebels of Fatah Halab.
A military source told told Al-Masdar News on Thursday evening that the Syrian Armed Forces and Palestinian committees were able to seize Shaher Hill after overrunning Fatah Halab’s defenses at the eastern sector of the Handarat Refugee Camp.
Handarat Refugee Camp was captured by the Islamist rebels in late 2012; since its seizure, Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have turned it into one of their most fortified sites in Aleppo.
The Syrian Armed Forces and Palestinian committees have recently targeted the Handarat Refugee Camp after obstructing the jihadist rebel supply route along the Al-Castillo Highway.
With the Al-Castillo Highway being rendered inoperable, the jihadist rebels find themselves under siege in east Aleppo.
