The Syrian Arab Army’s 12th Brigade of the 5th Division has reestablished their supply route in the strategic city of Sheikh Miskeen after swarming Jabhat Al-Nusra positions on Nawa-Al-Dawaar Road and recapturing this area last night. The 12th Brigade killed scores of Jabhat Al-Nusra fighters, including the leader of “Kateeb Ansar Al-Shariah” (Nusra offshoot), Sami Al-Safadi, before announcing the capture of the road.
According to a military source, the SAA’s 175th Brigade is on the outskirts of Nawa, where they look to breach Jabhat Al-Nusra defenses and recapture the surrounding hills overlooking this large city in the Dara’a Governorate. The SAA and Jabhat Al-Nusra are suffering heavy losses at Sheikh Miskeen, while both parties continue their tug-of-war battle for control of the city. The majority of firefights are taking place in the South and East Districts; specifically, near the Sheikh Miskeen Cemetary.
Yesterday, the SAA’s 175th Brigade destroyed 3 captured T-55 tanks used by Jabhat Al-Nusra at Sheikh Miskeen. The tanks were believed to have been captured by Jabhat Al-Nusra in the city of Nawa, where the SAA withdrew from earlier this month.
