BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is mulling a new military operation in western Aleppo after a string of attacks carried out by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, a source from the city told Al-Masdar last night.
According to the source, the Syrian Arab Army has been ordered to stay on high alert along the western, southwestern, and northwestern axes of Aleppo city.
The source said reinforcements are being sent to the Aleppo front to increase the security around the city and to possibily carry out a new operation to push the jihadists out of the area.
Over the last 72 hours, at least eleven civilians have been killed and more than 20 more have been hospitalized due to wounds sustained from the jihadist attacks on the Al-Khalidiyah District and Nile Street.
While the Syrian Arab Army has retaliated with artillery shells and missiles on some of the areas controlled by the jihadist rebels, they have actively avoided any ground operation thus far.
However, due to these attacks, the Syrian Arab Army appears to be shifting their attention from Idlib to Aleppo in a bid to secure the city and expel the remaining jihadist rebels.
