BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard continued their large-scale military campaign inside the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Thursday, targeting the town of Harzama and nearby Al-Firzat Hill that are under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman.
Backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (Palestinian wing of the Syrian Army), the 105th Brigade managed to advance as far as 500 meters deep into the farm area between Harzama and Hawsh Shalaq, resulting in the collapse of the first line of defense for Jaysh Al-Islam.
A military officer from the 105th Brigade told Al-Masdar News on Thursday that once Harzama is captured by their forces, they will be able to impose full-control over Firzat Hill, which is located northeast of Hawsh Shalaq.
The Syrian Arab Army’s military operations in East Ghouta restarted this week after the Islamist rebels launched their own offensive that featured both Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman united together for the first time in several months.
