BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:15 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) kicked-off their Jobar assault with a bang on Saturday, seizing several points from the Islamist militants inside this Damascene suburb.

Led by the 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division, the Syrian Arab Army began the assault on Saturday morning when their forces bombarded Faylaq Al-Rahman’s positions with a barrage of surface-to-surface missiles.

Following the missile strikes, the 42nd Brigade stormed Faylaq Al-Rahman’s defenses around the Al-Manasher Roundabout, inflicting heavy damage on their defenses.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army managed to capture several buildings around the Al-Manasher Roundabout, marking their first advance in this area in quite some time.

Meanwhile, in nearby ‘Ayn Tarma, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard captured the imperative Sonbol Station after a fierce battle with Faylaq Al-Rahman.

Both Syrian Army brigades will continue their field operations on Sunday, as they look to close the gap on the militant positions.
