BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and National Defense Forces (NDF), carried out a new assault in the East Ghouta region of Damascus on Saturday, targeting the defenses of the Islamist rebels east of Douma.
Led by their 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies attacked Jaysh Al-Islam’s (Army of Islam) positions at the small village of Hawsh Al-Dawahirah, resulting in a series of intense clashes on Saturday afternoon.
According to local activists, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies managed to capture local grammar school that was turned into a militant base and a nearby checkpoint.
With their forces besieging the Al-Qaboun area, the Syrian Arab Army is attempting to put heavy pressure on the jihadist rebels in eastern Damascus by attacking new points in the East Ghouta.
