BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:55 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army resumed their military operations in southeast Palmyra today, striking the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions near the Talilah Crossroad.

Backed by Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion, alongside Shaitat tribal fighters, captured 4 new points from the Islamic State forces, inching them closer to the Talilah Crossroad’s western axis.

According to a military source in east Homs, today’s advance by the Syrian Arab Army has paved the way for their forces to not only capture the Talilah Crossroad, but also, put them in position to strike the strategic T-3 Airport.

In addition to this assault, the Syrian Arab Army is targeting the Dahret Al-Tawilah area, which is located just east of Habra Al-Gharbiyah in the Palmyra countryside.

A military source in east Homs told Al-Masdar that several Islamic State militants were killed during assault along the road to Dahret Al-Tawilah this afternoon.
